WAC School of Law and Legal Studies

The WAC School of Law and Legal Studies (SLLS) has developed into one of the leading Law Schools available online. Its teaching standards and research quality consistently receive high ratings, and the University itself ranks amongst the leading online teaching institutions around the globe. The School has a strong research culture and the entire staff is composed of active researchers in their own areas of expertise.

Two distinctive features of the SLLS are its contextual approach to the study of law and its commitment to offering an international perspective on law.

The contextual approach has been developed at WAC LLS for over a decade now. Our aim is to avoid treating law as if it can be separated from other aspects of society. So as well as studying legal judgments and statutes, students also examine the impact of economic, cultural and political change on law and consider how law affects life beyond the court-room and the lawyer's office.

The School encourages comparative and international perspectives on law and this approach influences courses offered at diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate level. The international nature of the School is reflected in the cosmopolitan nature of the student body, it being common for there to be students from fifty or more countries studying here at any one time. The teaching staffs too are varied in their backgrounds and most have extensive international experience.

The SLLS alumni have forged distinguished careers in government, public-service organizations, corporations, and law firms throughout the world. With diversity, expertise and a strong pedagogical structure, WAC SLLS enables you to sneak out better prospects as advisers primarily on private sector careers - including law firms, in-house counsel positions, business careers, alternative legal careers and judicial clerkships.
